I became a Christian at the age of 16, during my time at Charterhouse School. I then went on to study music at St. Catherine's College, Oxford. I had thoughts of a career in music at the time, but ended up working in IT for over 20 years, interrupted by two years' theological study at Moorlands Bible College in Dorset.
In January 2006, I finally escaped from IT and started work as a researcher for UKIP's MEPs in the European Parliament in Brussels. While I had followed political developments since my teenage years, I had never been actively involved in politics until 2001, when I joined the UK Independence Party, after being given a leaflet about the EU by a Christian friend. I worked in Brussels until April 2008, and then spent three rather unsettled years doing a number of different jobs before returning to the political world in April 2011 as editor of Freedom Today - The Freedom Association's quarterly magazine, a job which I combine with working for International Monetary Research Ltd., a company run by Professor Tim Congdon, CBE.
During my time in Brussels, I was not only confirmed in my belief that Britain should leave the European Union, but I also began to develop a wider interest in political issues, and in particular began to look at the history of Christian political thought. The net result of my studies was the book Providence, Piety and Power - Biblical government and the modern state, which was published by RoperPenberthy in November 2012. You can find out more about this book by clicking on http://www.roperpenberthy.co.uk/index.php/browse-books/political/providence-piety-and-power-biblical-government-and-the-modern-state.html .
This website and blog has been set up out of my concern for my country - so favoured by God, but now in a state of decline - and the church within it seriously compromised. I may only be one isolated Christian, but I cannot stand by and do nothing.
However, although most of the information on the website will relate to political issues, from time to time, I may stray briefly into other particular interests of mine. I am a keen gardener, railway enthusiast, lover of classical music and guinea pig owner. among other things!
I am married to Katherine, and currently live in Gloucestershire. We are members of Providence Baptist Chapel, Cheltenham (http://www.providencebaptistchapel.org.uk/) I have occasionally led Bible studies in our church when our pastor has been away, and I have preached in various other churches over the years since completing my theology diploma in 1998.
